LION, LEON M.
LION, LEON M. (1879–1947), British actor-manager. Born in London, Lion was well known particularly for his productions of Galsworthy. He acted in many West End plays and went into management in 1918. Four years later he launched a Galsworthy series, starting with Justice and including Loyalties, plays which he frequently revived and in which he acted. He presented two Galsworthy plays in Paris, 1928, and between 1918 and 1939 staged 70 productions. He was author or part-author of 20 plays, and also appeared in a number of British films during the 1930s.
